For Keisha Pooler, the promise of breathing life into language is more than a goal, it is a gift. As an educator, author, inspirational speaker, spoken word artist, community caretaker, and breast cancer conqueror, Keisha’s mission is to assist in society’s rebirth through the art of speech and spiritual empowerment. This Dublin, Georgia native attended Morris Brown College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Troy State University and a Specialist Degree (Ed. S) in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. With a career in education spanning 29 years in the Public School System of Georgia, Keisha has had the pleasure of serving in numerous leadership capacities including mentor to novice teachers in the education profession, instructional coach to supervise and support teachers in curriculum implementation, and as an assistant principal. She currently functions as a Secondary Literacy Specialist for Atlanta Public Schools.
An award-winning educator, she is the former 2004-2005 Morrow High School Teacher of the Year for Clayton County Public Schools. Also, she has twice been listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Educators and was twice named a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction, senior member of the Nobel Prize family, as testament to her work as both a mentor and teacher. Keisha has been privileged to share her craft and creativity at various venues. She has been a featured artist and speaker for numerous schools, universities, and organizations. Keisha is also a published author whose work is featured in An Anthology of Sisterhood: A Compilation of 22 Shades of Red. This literary work is a 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Award Finalist. The anthology is a collection of more than 100 original poems, essays, short stories, and lyrics commissioned from twenty-two women who are joined in sisterhood through their membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
