Cheating is more tempting than ever, thanks to AI. Struggling writers don’t need to find an article to copy; just feed the program a prompt! However, these responses lack originality and authenticity. This session demonstrates a lesson that helps students recognize and value their own inimitable voices.

Dana Cole is a passionate veteran teacher at the north end of Walker County, just across the state line from Chattanooga, Tennessee. She earned a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Florida State University in 2000, and a Master of Science in English Education with a focus in online learning from American College of Education in 2019. Teaching required courses means supporting students at a wide variety of skill and interest levels – a challenge that keeps the work meaningful.
