Merlong is an instructional coach and seasoned educator with over 18 years of experience in teaching and educational leadership with expertise in early childhood education, language and literacy development and instructional coaching. Her research and work center around critical family ethnography, Black girl literacies, and Black feminist thought with a commitment to amplifying the voices and experiences of Black girls in education. She brings a unique perspective to her work by integrating arts-based methodologies and participatory approaches that celebrate agency and identity development.
