This workshop will focus on how to re-frame failure as a positive and necessary part of the learning process for students in grades 7-12. Participants will explore practical strategies to design lessons that incorporate productive struggle, problem-solving, and reflection, turning moments of failure into opportunities for deeper understanding and inquiry.

Aliphia Luttrell is a highly motivated educator that teaches ELA, Journalism, and Dual Enrollment English courses at Jordan Vocational College and Career Academy. She is known for being fair, firm, and consistent. She fosters a calm and peaceful learning environment where students feel supported and encouraged to thrive. With a focus on maintaining balance and structure, she creates a space where students can focus, grow, and reach their full potential.
Dr. Amber Dumbuya
Dr. Amber Dumbuya is a dedicated middle school English department chair and award-winning educator at School for Arts Infused Learning. She teaches grades 6-9, and has experience teaching dramatic writing, dual enrollment, and SAT/ACT prep, as well as 11th and 12th grade and college level English courses. She blends traditional and innovative teaching methods across hybrid, online, and in-person classes. Dr. Dumbuya, presents regularly at educational conferences on topics including critical thinking, rhetoric, cultural studies, and educational technology. She also serves as a mentor for first-year teachers and has been a selected member of the American Antiquarian Society-Historic Children’s Voices Institute, NCTE’s Primary Source Rationale Cohort and is actively working on projects to enhance K-12 pedagogy.
